CCS Annual Food Drive Update
From January 25-29, the CCS PTF sponsored our Annual Canned Food Drive to help replenish desperately needed food at the Food Bank of San Luis Obispo County. Our students collected more than 579 pounds of food for their community! Great job, CCS!! The Food Bank estimates that approxmately 35,000 people suffer from hunger HERE in our county (40% are children and many are seniors).

Ongoing CCS Fundraisers
Our 8th and 9th Grade students are collecting soda cans, plastic bottles and glass to recycle and raise funds for their trip to Washington D.C. in May. Please drop donations of recycled items in the blue recycling containers located near the dumpster.
Our varsity volleyball team also collects and recycles print cartridges and cellular phones to raise money. They have a collection box for those items right outside the school office.
Thank you so much!

CCS 2009 Alumni Kaitlyn Henry Gets All-League Status

Operation Christmas Child at CCS
Students of Coastal Christian School filled 102 shoeboxes this month with gifts as an expression of love for needy children.
The shoeboxes will be sent to Samaritan’s Purse, an international organization whose project, Operation Christmas Child, helps children in crisis situations all over the world. In addition, CCS students raised $2,100 through a coin drive to pay for the shipping costs and offered additional money as donations to Samaritan’s Purse.

Coastal Christian School Celebrates Christmas with a Special Program
A BIG THANK YOU to all of our families who participated in December 3rd's Annual Christmas Program at New Life Church.  It was a wonderful program (Brava! to our music teacher Ms. Morrison for a job well done!).  Thank you to our Room Moms for helping with costuming prior to the performance, to Mrs. Lindstaedt and Mrs. Davis for coordinating all of the costumes, Mrs. Henry for stepping in to help with 5th Grade so Ms. Oneschuck could play the flute, and to Mrs. Ross for guest-conducting so that Ms. Morrison could play the violin.  Thank you also to Mrs. Klemm for being our piano accompanist and for helping make our Secondary Choir look "sharp" for their performance!  So many others pitched in to help as well and we are so grateful for all that was done to make this evening a special one for our school families.  Well Done and Thank You!!!

Smart Board Technology in 5th Grade
Thank you to everyone who sold and bought cookie dough for our PTF fundraiser! Part of the proceeds from that sale went towards buying an NEC video projector for our 5th Grade class. The projector will allow Miss Oneschuck's class to begin using its Smart Technology Smart Board! To learn more about Smart Boards and how they can enhance classroom learning, please click here. Thank you students, parents and PTF for helping CCS reach its goal of increasing technology for each classroom!

CCS Tennis Team
Our athletic director, Mr. Cassidy, is still hoping to build a tennis team for CCS! We really need metal rackets and a wire basket on wheels. Please pray, or let us know if you can help

"An Afternoon of Worship" hosted by Coastal Christian School
A big Thank You to everyone who helped with CCS's First Annual Afternoon of Worship! It was a beautiful day (God sent just enough breeze and shade!), and we had a great crowd of people there to listen to awesome music and give praise to the Lord. A special thank you goes to "Worst of Sinners," the worship band from Grace Baptist Church in Santa Maria. They were so generous with their time and talent, and we appreciate it so much! And a big thanks to Mike Bergantzel, who volunteered his day to do the sound for our concert. You did a fabulous job! We'd also like to thank the churches who helped us: Grace Baptist Church and their band, Oak Park Christian for letting us use their sound equipment, and Harvest Church for letting us borrow their tables! We are so grateful for the support of our local churches. And finally, we'd like to thank everyone who helped the day of the concert: Lance Tullis and Mitch Dubbers for speaking and introducing the band, and Julie Cucchiara, Jolene Henry, Dan Wickstrom, Bob White, Sheri White, Connie Tunks, and CCS students David Llamas, Cheyenne Bartlett and MaryBeth Strausberg! We couldn't have done it without you! Thank you also to everyone who came out to enjoy the music and support our school. We hope you had a blessed afternoon! We look forward to next year's concert!

CCS Graduate Aaron Evans Receives a California Merit Award from Rep. Kevin McCarthy
Aaron Evans, a 2009 CCS graduate, was one of six students in California's 22nd Congressional District to receive a California Merit Award. "The Merit Award honors the achievements of our communities' best and brightest, and recognizes their positive achievements and inspires all of our students to work toward their goals," said Congressman McCarthy. "By coming together and recognizing these students, I believe we help to create a positive community environment that supports the hard work of the next generation's leaders." Earlier this year, high school principals were invited to select one outstanding graduating senior per school to receive the 22nd Congressional District of California Merit Award. The Merit Award was created by Congressman McCarthy to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence, exemplary school citizenship, volunteerism, community service, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership skills, and have earned a 3.5 GPA or higher. (From RepublicanHousePolicy.org) Congratulations, Aaron!
